From the Dutch word Lølen, the term LOL (pronounced as one word, with a long "o", as in "Dude, I was lolling so hard that I fell over.") is commonly used throughout the internet as a means to show empathy, standing for 'Lots of love'. It can also mean 'I have nothing better to say'. LOL is not to be confused with lol, which is just a man with his arms raised.

LMAO is a commonly seen propaganda message in the People's Republic of China. It translates to a rough play on 'Laugh now!' and 'Laugh, Mao said so.' - although the Chinese language is strange in many ways to the west. In other parts of the world however, it is used as an insult toward n00bs. Lmao is the short version of mamao.

OMG

Owe-Em-Gees are strange and elusive creatures that inhabit the deep forests of hyperspace, and so little is known about them that most people only know them as a phrase ("OMG")used to express excitement or surprise. The appearance of the Owe-Em-Gee is questioned, but it is usually an "Octarine" coloured, 3D word, with tiny wings. It bites and scratches. Their close relatives include the Roffle and the Zomg. Their predators include the evil Stuffoo, which is known for its ability to silence an unwary Owe-Em-Gee by amushing them from the front, and the Dubble-ewetee-eff, a bizzarre creature with nasty, questionable habit.

werd Owe-Em-Gees appear daily in many conversations on the web: in forums, IM conversations, e-mails, MySpace and other blog sites, etc. Internet conversations are their breeding grounds. When many OMGs suddenly insert themselves into a conversation, you know it's breeding time.
